The Wrestler, Darren Aronofsky, 2008
Aronofsky admirably and tactfully cedes the floor to his leading man, as Mickey Rourke positively commands the screen in this stirring character study that sharply recalls Huston's similarly colorful Fat City.

LOVED THIS MOVIE! Mickey Rourke vanishes into his character. Marisa Tomei does an admirable job as well. Hopefully academy members will notice the difference between her "stripper" and "mother" personas.
