The Oh in Ohio, Billy Kent, 2006.

Kent's clumsy sex romp fails miserably at literally every turn, with his otherwise capable cast (including indie stalwarts Paul Rudd and Parker Posey), struggling to find their way through one head-scratching plot device after another.

Rescue Dawn, Werner Herzog, 2007.

Herzog's survival/escape saga (undoubtedly the director's most accessible film), is expertly crafted and, in terms of engagment and execution, on par with any classic of the genre. Somewhat dissapointingly, though, the film lacks the visceral perspective so essential Herzog's best work, opting instead for more conventional methods to convey the ever-building tension of the narrative.
